NERC ISSUES NINE NEW LICENSES IN QUARTER 1 OF 2024

In the just released 2024 Quarter 1 report of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, it shows that the following licenses and registration certificates have been granted:

1. Nine (9) Off-Grid Generation Licenses with gross capacity of 109.69MW of which Golden Penny Power Limited got six (6) of the licenses. Other Off-Grid Generation Licensees are Daybreak Power Solution, TIS Renewable Energy Limited and Auro Nigeria Private Limited.

2. Also, Nine (9) Captive Power Generation Permit were issued with a nameplate capacity of 52.57MW in which MTN Nigeria Communication Limited got four of the licenses, the other licensees are SweetCo Foods Limited, African Steel Mills Nigeria Limited, West African Ceramics Limited, Royal Engineered Stones Limited and Armilo Plastics Limited.

3. Three (3) Mini-Grid Permits were issued in which Havenhill Synergy Limited got the three while two Registration Certificates were issued to NXT Grid Nigeria Limited and Prince Albert Company Limited.

The power industry in Nigeria is growing, and with the decentralization of the sector, soonest the power problems will be resolved.
