Delwit Represented at the Edo State World Clean Energy Day

It was an honour for Delwit team to participate as panelist at the recently concluded World Clean Energy Day, commemorated by Edo State in collaboration with agencies across the globe, where we discussed the importance of clean energy and the urgent need to expand access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.

The role of clean energy in today’s world particularly in Nigeria cannot be overemphasized. Beyond environmental protection, renewable energy, especially solar, represents the fastest, most scalable, and most accessible solution to electrifying unserved and underserved communities across the country.

Our contribution to the discussion focused on a critical but often overlooked factor: skilled manpower. While awareness and adoption of solar energy in Nigeria have grown significantly, the supply of well trained technicians have not kept pace. This gap has allowed poor workmanship and substandard installations to dominate parts of the market, leading to system failures, reduced lifespan of installations, and declining confidence among individuals, organisations, and public institutions.

To sustainably scale clean energy, we must scale quality technical capacity alongside technology deployment.

At Delwit Electrical and Solar Training Center, we recognised this challenge early and have positioned ourselves to address it by delivering hands-on and industry aligned training that produces competent electrical and solar technicians capable of meeting professional standards and supporting Nigeria’s clean energy transition.

The Edo State theme “Clean Energy for All: Simplifying Access” strongly aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7, which seeks to ensure universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy by 2030, a cornerstone of both the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

As stakeholders across government, industry, and training institutions, our collective responsibility is clear: to simplify access to clean energy while building the skilled workforce required to sustain its growth.

Together, we can create a safer, more reliable, and more inclusive energy future for Nigeria and beyond.
